Lateral and Surface Area

In this lesson, you can assume that all of the prisms are right prisms.

The lateral area (L.A.) of a rectangular prism is the sum of the areas of the lateral faces.

The lateral area (L.A.) of a triangular prism is the sum of the areas of the lateral faces.

The surface area (S.A.) of a rectangular prism is the sum of the lateral area and the areas of the bases.
